The function of a Teflon heater is to utilize steam generated during part of the work process in a steam turbine generator, drawing it into the heater to heat water, thereby raising the water temperature. This reduces the amount of steam discharged from the steam turbine to the condenser, minimizes cold-storage losses, and improves the thermal system’s overall efficiency. At present, most combined heat and power (CHP) projects in China adopt backpressure turbine heating systems, converting original coal-fired generating units into backpressure steam turbines or gas turbines as heat sources and achieving heating effects through technological innovation. In backpressure heating units, steam that has already done work in the turbine is used to heat the feedwater. This approach not only reduces the heat consumption of the boiler but also facilitates scientific adjustments to boiler combustion, thereby enhancing the thermal economic benefits of the power plant.
In thermal power plants, a significant portion of the steam parameters—derived from the heat generated by the fuel—is carried away by the cooling water circulating in the condenser. This type of heat loss is referred to as "cold storage loss." It is generally believed that most power plants in China currently operate under low-vacuum conditions. If the steam that has already done work in the steam turbine is extracted and used to preheat the boiler feedwater before being sent to the condenser, this steam will continue to do work within the turbine unit without causing any cold storage loss, thereby improving the overall thermal efficiency of the power plant. When high-pressure steam drawn from the steam turbine outlet is fed into the boiler, the increase in steam pressure and the drop in temperature cause the steam to mix with air, resulting in a certain level of humidity. This can help reduce fouling inside the electrical equipment. Therefore, the function of the high- and low-pressure Teflon heater is to preheat the boiler feedwater using steam extracted from the steam turbine, thus ensuring optimal thermal efficiency of the generating unit.
Teflon heaters mainly include 6 types.
I. Heat Treatment Processes: Conducting full or partial heat treatments, quenching, and through-hardening processes on various metallic materials.
2. Hot Forming: Full Forging, Partial Forging, Hot Upsetting, Hot Rolling
3. Electric Welding: Brazing of various metals, welding of blades for different types of knives and cutting tools, electric welding of serrated teeth on woodworking saw blades, seamless steel pipes, electric welding of copper pipes for air conditioners, and electric welding of similar products made from different metals.
4. Metallurgical Processing of Metallic Materials: Conducting metallurgical processing—including vacuum pumping—on metals such as gold, silver, copper, iron, and aluminum; casting and shaping; and vapor deposition coating.
V. Other Major Applications of High-Frequency Induction Heating: Growth and development of single crystals of semiconductor materials, thermal assembly, sealing of bottle caps, sealing of toothpaste tubes, powder coating, and embedding metal components into plastics.
